This Privacy Policy explains how TechSerks LTD ("TechSerks", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use www.techserks.co.uk (the "Site") and when you contact us or receive our on‑site and remote computer repair services for home users, and IT support services for small businesses in London, Essex and Kent (the "Services").

2) What data we collect and why

We collect the following categories of personal data. We always tell you when data is required to deliver a Service.

  • From third parties where necessary (e.g., payment processors confirming a transaction, or business partners who refer you – with your knowledge).

4) Lawful bases we rely on

We process personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 on the following bases:

  • Contract – to provide quotes, bookings, support and repairs you request.

  • Legitimate interests – to run, protect and improve our Services (e.g., records of work, network and information security, preventing fraud, managing queries). We balance these interests against your rights and freedoms.

  • Legal obligation – to meet tax, accounting and other legal requirements.

  • Consent – for non‑essential cookies/analytics and for electronic marketing where required. You can withdraw consent at any time.

5) Who we share data with (recipients)

We share only what’s necessary with trusted service providers who act under our instructions as processors (and their approved sub‑processors). Typical recipients include (confirm/adjust as needed):

  • Website platform & hosting: Wix.com Ltd (site, forms, security, analytics, cookie banner).

  • Domain/DNS & email: IONOS (domain hosting/DNS & email hosting).

  • Analytics: Wix Analytics and Google LLC (Google Analytics 4 — GA4) (non‑essential; set only with consent).

  • Payments: Wix Payments to process card transactions (we don’t store full card details).

  • Communications & CRM: [e.g., a helpdesk tool or ticketing system].

  • Remote support tools (if used): Zoho Assist.

  • IT/security partners: strictly where needed to deliver/secure our Services.

  • Professional advisors & regulators: accountants, insurers, HMRC/ICO where required by law.

We require processors to protect your data and only act on our documented instructions. We never sell your personal data.

6) International data transfers

Some providers may process data outside the UK (for example, in the EEA, the US or other countries). Where this happens, we use one of these safeguards:

  • UK adequacy regulations (where the destination is recognised as providing adequate protection); or

  • UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, plus additional measures where appropriate.

You can ask us for information about the specific safeguards used for your data.

7) How long we keep your data (retention)

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, including to meet legal, accounting or reporting requirements.

Indicative periods:

  • Invoices & tax records: 6 years from the end of the financial year (legal obligation).

  • Job/service notes & diagnostics: typically 12–24 months after the job closes, unless needed longer to support ongoing issues or legal claims.

  • Enquiry forms & quotes (no booking): 12 months from last contact.

  • Marketing lists: until you unsubscribe or after 24 months of inactivity, whichever is sooner.

  • Security logs: typically 90 days–12 months, depending on the system.

8) Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies on our Site. Essential cookies help it work and keep it secure; they are set on the basis of our legitimate interests. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), we only set non‑essential cookies (e.g., analytics) with your consent, using the UK GDPR standard for consent.

  • Emails/texts to individuals: we send only with your consent, or using the soft opt‑in where PECR allows (for our own similar products/services to existing customers who had a chance to opt out at collection). You can opt out at any time via the link in our messages or by contacting us.

  • Business contacts (corporate subscribers): we may email corporate subscribers about our services under PECR. We always honour opt‑out requests.

We never share your contact details with third parties for their own marketing.

10) Your rights

You have the following rights under UK data protection law: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability (where applicable), objection (including an absolute right to object to direct marketing), and the right to withdraw consent at any time.

11) Keeping your data secure

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, such as encryption in transit, access controls, secure configuration, role‑based access, staff confidentiality and minimising the data we collect and keep. We also choose reputable providers and monitor our systems for security.

If we become aware of a personal data breach that poses a risk to you, we will assess and act promptly. Where required by law, we’ll notify you and the ICO.

12) Children

Our Services and Site are aimed at adults. We don’t knowingly collect data about children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

13) Third‑party links

Our Site may include links to third‑party websites or apps. Those sites have their own privacy information and we aren’t responsible for their content or practices.
